Guyana Adventure #13 The Last day!!!!
Okay so it is the last day and we are walking the streets after purchasing things...we are sitting on the bus. We are in the middle of town in the heat of the day. The kids are out of school and the merchants are on the streets selling their fruits and veggies. So there was a specific restaurant that some of the delegates who had been to Guyana before wanted to take the new delegates to. We finally see the restaurant and the bus let us out in the middle of the street and in the middle of everything....kids walking, buses stuck in the middle of the street and people just walking and talking everywhere. It was like rush hour in Phila. or being in Time Square in New York City. People, People and more people!!!!! So I decide that I am gonna take some footage of what I am seeing...I get my little camera out and I start recording while still in the bus. I record myself opening the bus door to get out and I proceed out of the bus while the camera is running. I get a little stuck in the middle of the street because the buses are literally touching each other (that is how crowded it was). So I find a way to get around them and almost got ran over by a motorcyle...okay so he didn't see me???????? huh?!? I managed to move out the way....Now I am still trying to videotape and keep up with the group at the same time. So I finally make it out of the street and onto the pavement (out of the street). Bus drivers think I need to catch a bus so they are asking me to get in etc. Ummm, no I just out of a bus....anyway, I am totally not paying attention to where I am walking because I got my video camera rolling and I am just a talking into the camera and taking footage of everyone I see while trying to keep up with the group. How about I walk and walk and walk ----hmmmm, ahhhhh, oooouchhhh, I walk right into a POLE!!!!!!! LOLOLOL Yes, people, I walk into a POLE!!!!! Not only did I walk into this POLE, but I walk and hit the POlE and bounce off the pole onto the ground!!!!!! What? I am on the ground!!!!! Yes, I have never experienced anything like it. It was a metal pole and somehow I got off balance and just fell sideways to the ground. OOOUUUCCCCHHHH....okay so who does that??????How about my camera never fell out of my hand!!!!! It kept rolling until I hit the ground and all you see is a picture of a car that was turned sideways on my camera lense!!!!! What!!! funny stuff people. I am so serious...I totally was not paying attention to where I was walking and down I went!!!!!!! Okay so I am on the ground laughing and laughing because I am saying to myself...you are an nut! How do you manage to fall in the streets of Guyana!!!!!! So the group that I was with turned and saw me on the ground....they were cracking up as well. One of the deacons tried to help me, but by the time he got to me, I was already down! He did manage to help me up!!!!!!! So the Guyanese people just stopped and looked at me! Not one of them offered to help me up, they just stared at me as if to say...you are an idiot!!!!!!!! When I tell you they just looked at me, they really just looked at me....the stare was priceless!!!!! I wanted to say to them, I am sorry for falling....sorry that I fell on your streets- next time I will be more careful!!!!! LOL They were probably saying we have a "mad" American here in the middle of the road!!!!!!!Ha, ha, ha, ha, he, he, he,ha. So the hand I used to try to brake my fall got a little scratched up, but other than that, I am okay. yeah I am okay people, I will survive! Didn't brake any bones or anything.... Yes, it was quite embarassing, but HILARIOUS! I will never forget this experience....So, one of the other deacons was a little behind us and so I got up and got myself together and he hollers out....what happened and who fell and how did that happen????? So we all start laughing again and I had to relive that all over again....All that and the stupid restaurant was closed!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL LOL LOL We had to end up getting back on the bus and going to our favorite place KFC!!!!!!!!! Stay tuned for my travel back to the states and the overall feeling of the Guyana experience!
